How to recognize the problem

A purchase can fail in several places: cart session, validation, gateway authorization, callback processing, order creation, confirmation email or third-party integrations.

  • Customers cannot complete checkout or the cart disappears.
  • A payment was captured but the expected order is missing or incomplete.
  • Shipping and tax options change unexpectedly.
  • A gateway plugin or cache change caused inconsistent results.

What gets investigated

Specific steps depend on the website and available access. A typical review can include:

  1. Identify the exact step of the payment and order journey that fails.
  2. Inspect relevant application and gateway logs without collecting payment card data.
  3. Reproduce safely in test mode or staging where available.
  4. Apply the agreed repair and verify affected purchase paths with controlled transactions.

What a responsible fix looks like

The priority is a functioning, testable checkout and clear understanding of any orders affected during the incident.

Boundary: If customers may be charged without orders being recorded, pause the affected payment method appropriately until the behavior is understood. Refunds and gateway account issues may require provider action.

What to send with your request

Start with the website URL, what visitors see, when it began and any recent changes. Tell us which payment methods are involved, when the failure began and what customers report. Do not include real card numbers.

Do not include passwords, database dumps, customer information or payment data in the initial request.
